We are excited to announce a new contest for the month of September.

Every child aged 1 through 7 years old who receives their flu shot at our office the month of September will be entered into a drawing to win free tickets to the Frankfort Children's Musuem. We are happy to reward those who take preventative health care seriously like we do! Good Luck and remember to wash your hands and your child's hands frequently this cold and flu season (another great way to protect yourself and your children from the flu). The drawing will be held October 2, 2017.

Our influenza vaccines for all ages (6 months and older) have arrived for patients with private insurance.

We know your little ones(and big ones too) have just started back at school, and it's hard to believe that summer is really over, but flu season is approaching fast. Be prepared and get vaccinated now!

Remember we accept walk-ins without an appointment any day of the week for flu shots, and parents are always welcome too!

If you have insurance through the state of Illinois, we will post when those vaccines arrive. It is ideal to be vaccinated before November 1st if possible to get ahead of flu season.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has recently changed its opinion on when to offer and how much juice is appropriate in your child’s diet.  New recommendations by age group are as follows:

Younger than 12 months: Do not offer juice since it is of no nutritional benefit at this age.

1-3 years old: Limit to 4oz. or ½ cup daily, do not allow your toddler to carry a juice box or

sippy cup filled with juice throughout the day.

4-6 years: Limit to 4-6 oz. per day.

7-18 years: Limit to 8 oz. or 1 cup per day.

Juice can lead to cavities, weight gain or loss, and diarrhea when children drink too much of it. Juice is not essential to the diet, fruit is. Eating fruit instead of drinking juice will provide vitamin C along with fiber and other nutrients.

This week May 1-7, 2017 is Screen-free week (SFW). Unplug yourself and your family from digital media and screens this week. Engage with family and friends, go outside and enjoy nature, be creative and imagine, or just daydream. This is also a great time to reevaluate your family's use of screens and current household screen time rules. This year SFW also coincides with Children's Book Week, so read, read, read! Check out the link below for more information and tips on how to make this a successful week for your family.
